Middle School: Grades 6-8
The Waldorf middle school curriculum transforms significantly from that of earlier grades to nurture and support the changes taking place in upper grades students.
Critical reasoning skills, accurate observation, organizational skills, and the development of individual sound judgment are emphasized in middle school. Meaningful field trips and guest speakers widen students’ horizons and introduce them to today’s world.
Middle school students will have tests and quizzes to prepare them for life beyond Waldorf. A letter and number grading system will be introduced. Homework will increase each year but will be relevant and consisting of reading, math practice, creative writing, research and special projects.
Our teachers have the creativity and time to go beyond merely skill building to in-depth engagement with content — whether physics, algebra, Shakespeare or the Industrial Revolution.
Art, music and movement remain integral to the curriculum throughout middle school. The students need coordination of mind and body to help them be balanced and well-rounded young adults.
