Sunday, Oct 29, 2017, 1 pm - 4 pm: Family Event - Pumpkin Carving Open House at WSCC
Pumpkin carving is a fun, messy, creative endeavor, and even more fun when done with friends! Current families, friends, and anyone who wants to learn more about the Waldorf way are invited. Pumpkins for sale, or bring your own. Safe carving tools provided. Pumpkin soup will be available for purchase, and staff will be available for tours and school information.
Thursday, Nov 2, 2017, 2 pm - 3 pm: Lantern Making Workshop at WSCC
Children ages 3 to first grade and parents are invited to make simple lanterns with our Early Childhood teachers. Learn one of the songs we sing on our Lantern Walk, and then join us the following Thursday evening, November 9, as we walk through our grounds and woods with only our lanterns to guide us. Families may also wish to start their own traditional evening lantern walk at home. *No cost - Pre-registration Required: Call 508-420-1005
Thursday, Nov 9, 2017: Martinmas Festival Lantern Walk at WSCC
Early Childhood students' walk will take place at 5 pm, and Grades at 6 pm. The first festival of the "Festivals of Light" season marks the time of year when the days are shorter and nights are longer. We use our lanterns as a symbol to help guide us through these longer nights and prepare us for the darkest part of the year. The children, of course, simply enjoy walking through dark woods at night. Children's understanding of the symbolism of the walk will deepen naturally as they develop, without adult explanation.
Friday, Nov 10, 2017: Veteran's Day, No school - Middle School Community Service Day
Classes 6-8 will participate together in a local community service project, as a 'kick-off' to their year-long community service. If your organization has ideas for service projects for our students, either long or short-term, please contact Sue Salvesen, at AdminAssistant@waldorfcapecod.org
